Part 1:

Like it or not, it's more difficult to get customers now than it used to be. There are a lot reasons for that but we can organize all of those reasons into the following 4 categories.

  1. Increased Local Competition
    You've probably noticed it happening in your area over the last few years. There has been an increase in the number of direct competitors opening up shop and this can easily amount to there being fewer customers to go around for every tree surgeon in the area. 

    The general public often doesn't understand the difference between you and your competitors at a glance so, with this increased presence of competition, it's important that we do things to help our business stand out (more on that in the next section).

  2. Decreased Visibility in your Local Marketplace
    Too many times, we see businesses get comfortable with their place in the market and they just stop marketing their business to new customers. While this can work for a short period of time for more established businesses, that eventually leads to all kinds of problems as existing customers will move on. It's incredibly important that we have a marketing plan to constantly expose new potential customers to our business so that we don't fall victim to "Existing Customer Creep".

    The cheapest and most effective way to reach your customers is through the internet. Whether that be your website or via your social media channels, these are the best places to reach your potential user base and educate those folks about why your business is the only choice when they need services like yours.


With all of those things working against us, how do we combat them and become more attractive to the potential customers in our Local Markets?

Part 2:

There are two core things that every business out there has to do right now in order to be more successful and to attract more people to their front door.


The 2 core things Tree Service businesses Must do to attract more new Customers Right Now:

  • #1: Increase your Business' Visibility 
    One of the most important things that you can do right now is to make sure that your business is a part of the "conversation" in places where your potential customers are already hanging out. You have to seek out the places where those folks already exist normally and make your business a part of that (more on how you do that in the next section).

  • #2: Educate all of those "New Eyeballs" 
    Once you are in front of all of those new people, you need to make sure that you have information in front of them that will exhibit your expertise and help them wrap their heads around the true nature of the problem that they are trying to solve. When you inform your market you deliver "results in advance" to them. This causes them to bond with your business before they ever call on you. This creates a desire to work with you over your competition.

That all sounds good in theory, but how do you actually increase your visibility and then inform all of those "new eyeballs" on the value behind what you do everyday in your business?

To be successful you have to make sure that you are getting in front of your audience more easily and more often. You also have to make sure that you're doing it in a way that isn't going to cost you an arm and a leg. We've had great success using the Review Loop approach that we explain below.

Point #1: Leverage existing positive reviews from Google by placing a 'Live-Streaming widget on your website.

Your positive Google reviews are among your most important assets for getting new local customers and you simply Must take advantage of this. Our not-to-be-ignored widget located in the lower left or right corner of your website makes your positive reviews pop-up in real-time. Potential customers coming to your website are spending time looking at this 'life-stream' of positive information. They are more likely to take action by getting in touch via phone or contact form. Google sees them spending more time on your site and this helps with your page rank. This in-turn gets more eye-balls onto your website.

Point #2: We also place your positive reviews into the narrative portion of your website.

While the Live-streamed reviews (see point 1) are great for making prospects take notice, placing them onto your website in a narrative form is great for people who want to know more. Well formulated reviews can be a great source of information for prospective customers and present you as the go-to provider of tree services in your local market.

Point #3: You invite existing customers to leave reviews via the 'Write A Review' button

Getting customers to leave reviews can be a bit of a grind! First you have to remember to ask them, and lots of businesses forget to do this. Then, the customer has to faff around logging into their google account and finding the portal for leaving the review. Many don't bother. Our 'Review Loop' system makes all of this a breeze! All you have to do is ask customers to go to your website, find the blue 'Write a Review' button and follow the easy steps from there - as will be set out in points 4 and 5.

Point #4: Customers are presented with a 'review gate' and make their choice

Once customers have clicked the blue 'Write a Review' button, they can leave a positive or negative review. The green thumb takes them to the review intake form in your Google Business Profile. The red thumb takes them to a feedback form pointing to your email address.

Point #5: Customers decide what kind of reviews they will give you...

So, customers can decide what type of review they will give you. In cases of positive reviews (4 star and above), they are directed to the Google Business Profile portal for leaving reviews. In cases of negative reviews (below 4), they are directed to a feedback form that is linked to your email account. You get notified, and can respond directly to ascertain the problem and agree how you will fix it. 

Why is this Strategy is so Effective?

Positive Google reviews are an asset you should deploy to attract more local customers. Our 'Review Loop' approach enables you to harness this asset in several ways by placing your existing reviews on your website in a way that makes them pop-up for the visitor. 


It also makes it really easy for you to ask existing customers to leave reviews. Just point them to your website. When they click the 'Write a Review' button, they are taken through a straight forward process that makes it easy for them to leave you a review.


By encouraging new reviews and live-streaming existing reviews in real time, a 'review loop' effect happens that then leads to better engagement, better website ranking, better Google Business Profile ranking and more potential customers reaching out to you.
